8.d) Case #233183 – Cartwright Place Business Center PD (Chick-fil-A) –Request approval of a Preliminary Site Plan for a 6,110-square foot restaurant on 2.54 acres located north of Poplar Avenue, west of Bray Station Road and east of Cartwright Farm Lane.
Applicant: GBC Design Inc. (Allan Wiley, P.E.)
Property Owner: Cartwright Clara S. Exempt Residuary Trust (Woods Weathersby)
Project Planner: Donquetta M. Singleton
After inspecting the proposed lot, I disagree with those opposed to the move. Poplar, Bray, and Schilling can absolutely handle the traffic. Combined with CFA’s trusted and strategic traffic flow planning this will be a much safer move for ALL of Collierville’s residents.
Additionally, the added amenities will be a boon to our families. I strongly support and urge the town to approve this move.
I support literally everything about the plans for the new Chick-Fil-A location. Increased traffic volume away from Poplar, increased indoor seating, and the inclusion of an indoor playground are huge positive aspects. My 3-year old loves Chick-Fil-A and is going to be over the moon for this new and improved location!!
I am opposed to this proposed location. To make a real improvement on current Poplar congestion it should not be so close to the current location and should NOT be next to a two lane residential road with a preschool, railroad crossing and Schilling development nearby. The proposed location will be much bigger and busier contributing to even more congestion on Poplar.
My concern is for the safety of our residents going in and out of a chick Fil a at the proposed new location. Moving the location a few hundred yards down the same street with the same issues is not a good idea for the largest chick Fil a in the country. This new 350 car/hour model needs a more carefully thought out location where that kind of traffic flow won’t endanger those it’s trying to serve.
Please consider carefully the safety of our Collierville families.
Having heard first hand the plans for accommodating and managing the flow of traffic in this new location, it is without a doubt a great move our town. The limited size of the current lot causes an unsafe overflow of traffic onto Poplar. Anyone who has been through the current drive thru knows how tight the lane is. The sensors on my car tell me to not even make the turn. The success of our Collierville Chic-fil-A is proof of the positive impact on our community, and they deserve our support.
I am expressing my opposition to the relocation of CFA. This location is NOT in the best interest of Colliervillians for reasons of SAFETY! There is no ingress/egress to Poplar, which will dump increased traffic on residential streets, mainly Bray Station. This is an inept road to handle current traffic! Currently not in the equation, are the 490 units being built at Schilling Farms and 144 units in Sycamore ridge. I hope our planning commission will vote NO understanding this huge RISK!
I support the planned new location. The current location is insufficient for the amount of customers frequenting the establishment. By having a properly planned location that takes into consideration the new ways people order food, the town can have a safe main road and a more efficient establishment that doesn't have to compete with other businesses for parking.
I am opposed to this 350 car / hour CFA location due to safety reasons. I am a resident of Bray Station Road. The logical route to this location from all points north of Poplar will be down narrow, residential Bray Station Road. New dense development south of the location will complicate an already busy intersection. I strongly oppose this location for such a high impact business. It will result in serious unintended safety issues.
Moving this location half a mile down poplar, across from a railroad crossing, and at the intersection of Bray station, only gridlocks traffic. When a train rolls through town in the morning and everybody is going to work/school, this will disrupt traffic and be a nightmare for emergency vehicles if they have to pass through or go down bray station. This is clearly not safe, and there are PLENTY of other locations for this chick fil a to go on. I strongly oppose.
Moving this half a mile down poplar doesn’t solve the traffic issue, especially where there is a railroad crossing and a 4 way traffic stop. When a train rolls through town, and it’s 7:30am on a Monday and buses need to get to school and people are on their way to work, this fast food traffic will gridlock all traffic flow. And God Forbid an ambulance has to get down bray station during that time, or a fire truck. Put it by 385 on byhalia road. Plenty of room and safer location.
This location is a win win. The customers will enjoy easy access and the community will appreciate the improvement in the flow of traffic on Poplar.
Chic-Fil-A is a leader among fast food restaurants in Collierville in food quality and customer service. They would not have chosen this location without much planning and research. Let's welcome them to this new site!
I fully support this proposed location for CFA. I think it is much needed for our growing community and this will be a great place for it to be located.
I oppose the building of a Chick Fil A on the corner of Poplar and Bray Station due to safety concerns. This will be one of the biggest CFA locations in the US, with plans to be built on the corner of a narrow 2 lane road. The quickest route for many Collierville residents takes them through the intersection of Bray Station and Frank Rd. This intersection would become dangerous with even a fraction of the expected 350-400 cars-per-hour that CFA expects at their restaurant. Poor location!
I would rather see them utilize a location that already has infrastructure such as the old McDonald’s or empty restaurant at popular and 72! It has traffic signals already! Not sure why McDonald’s moved to a dangerous and smaller location? Not very good city planning!lots of empty restaurants and retailers in collierville already, the city needs a better master plan!
I am very opposed to this project. The Cartwright Farms location is a terrible location to build a super-sized Chick-fil-a. There are multiple public safety hazards in the area including a large senior living facility, railroad crossing, preschool, and multiple two lane unimproved residential roads. Bray Station Road may be identified as a "major collector", but the actual status of the road is certainly not a "major collector" and should not be treated as such.
A new Collierville Chick-fil-a building is desperately needed. The new location would lead to a much safer experience. Guests will no longer have to walk through the drive through line in order to get into the store. The new location will make the Chick-fil-a experience faster and anxiety free.

I fully support this proposal for a new Collierville Chick-fil-A location. Chick-fil-A has far outgrown their current location. The current traffic situation presents a difficulty and danger to both guests and team members, and the new building is going to solve these issues. Chick-fil-A would not have picked this location if it would cause more traffic issues, and they are additionally installing a new lane on Poplar and new road to ensure the safety of guests and team members alike.

I think the move is necessary to reduce the traffic back up and dangers associated with it. Please approve the move of Chick-fil-A.
